Osasuna Calls 22 Players for Season Finale Against Getafe
Los Rojillos rally in final 10 minutes; Raúl García and Alejandro Catena score to secure three points
Osasuna (11-9-13, 42 points) and El Sadar secured an epic 2-1 victory over Sevilla (9-7-17, 34 points) that all but guarantees their survival with five matches remaining in the season.
A header by defender Alejandro Catena in the 99th minute completed the comeback and lifted the team to victory. Forward Raúl García had ignited hopes with a superb strike from the edge of the box with 10 minutes left, leveling a match in which forward Neal Maupay had opened the scoring.
After the final whistle, players and fans celebrated with a lap of honor, savoring a win that felt like mission accomplished.
The match began evenly, although Osasuna controlled possession from the opening whistle. The hosts created the first chances, testing goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, who denied a half-turn effort from midfielder Jon Moncayola. Before halftime, Osasuna’s pressure continued with a long-range strike from defender Valentin Rosier that skimmed the top corner and an individual move by forward Víctor Muñoz inside the box that was blocked by the visiting goalkeeper.
After the restart, the pattern held as Osasuna pushed forward through structured attacks. However, Sevilla took the lead in the 69th minute when Maupay headed home. Spurred by substitutions and the crowd, the hosts increased their intensity, generating further chances, including a Raúl effort cleared off the line by defender Kike Salas and a wide shot from Moncayola. Raúl equalized in the 80th minute with a strike from the edge of the area. Then, in the 99th minute, Catena sent El Sadar into raptures with a powerful header from a precise cross by Moi Gómez.
Osasuna’s next match is against FC Barcelona on Saturday, May 2, at 9 p.m. at El Sadar in Week 34 of LaLiga EA Sports.
